One thing I think we can all agree on is that everyone, no matter the age, loves pizza. It is one of the most consumed foods in America. How much? Americans eat 3 billion pizzas per year, for a total of $38 billion spent by Americans annually on pizza. The average American eats 40 pizzas a year. (that’s me!)

So with all that pizza being consumed who are the top pizza chains in the country. We looked at three different surveys and each one of them was completely different, even down to the #1 pizza chain in the country. With that in mind I decided to make up my own list of the Top 12 pizza chains based on those surveys and my own favorites. Here we go.

Here’s a couple of more facts about pizza. The top three states with the most pizza chains are California, Texas and Florida. The top three cities with the most pizza chains are Houston, Texas, San Antonio, Texas and Los Angeles, California.  (CA). Of course the city with the most pizza restaurants, big and small, is New York City. Pizza Hut has the most stores in the U.S. with 6,300.

Finally, to answer the age old question, does pineapple belong on a pizza? Hell yes!!
