Awards show #33 is in the books and is now history! Who ever thought a new local sports magazine “Sports South” begun in 1988 by Paul Allen would morph into NightMoves? Surely not Paul, nor myself when I joined him in 1989. We were hoping to become the sports magazine voice for Tampa Bay. But things change for a reason and in 1991 the very first edition of NightMoves Magazine was launched. Since then there have 430 plus non stop monthly editions since That makes NightMoves the longest running adult entertainment magazine in the U.S.A.
Then in 1993 we put on our very first adult awards show, hoping it would be a success. With entertainment and only 10 awards for local clubs and performers we had a packed house and also knew we had something special. From that first small one night show, we grew it into the four day festival it is today with 33 shows in the books.
The number of stars we’ve had at these shows over the years reads like a “who’s who” of porn. The number of stars that have received their very first award in the industry at our show is an incredible list. We were the first awards show to begin fan balloting to pick the winners. We were the first awards show to use the internet for voting. We are the only awards show to have “live” shows every year, even through the pandemic. We are the third oldest awards show in the industry behind AVN and XRCO. Paul, Tracy and myself are honored to be elected members to the XRCO Hall of Fame. Over the past 35 years we have continued to improve our show in various ways, one of the biggest being the addition of the “$5,000 Showgirl Invitational”, bringing in touring dancers to compete for the grand prize. This has added some incredible talent to our shows with dazzling, exciting and show stopping performances by these beautiful and talented ladies for the past several years. One thing you can always be sure of each year is that there will be something new added to the format.
As for this year’s just concluded show, we couldn’t have asked for better. First the weather was extremely cooperative and that is always a blessing. The stops at the various clubs with our stars each night went over very well with big crowds, plenty of fun and excitement taking place at every venue they visited meeting and greeting fans and putting on a great show. Then there was the awards show hosted by superstar Lauren Phillips and performer/rapper Flynt Dominick who were at the top of their game throughout the evening. Emperor’s Tampa was jam packed to the rafters with fans, industry people, local and national, and then in between the various awards there was the Showgirl Invitational. It was without question, for me, the best group of dancers brought together yet. Every single act offered up excitement, fun, fantastic props, great costumes and some heart stopping, jaw dropping pole tricks by the dancers that had the crowd going wild. This was one invitational that is going to be very hard to top.
It was a terrific four days and our thanks to everyone who was part of this production that helped make it flow smoothly. The positivity and accolades are still coming in from everywhere and makes all the work that is put into this event worth every minute. Thank you everyone and we’ll be back next October with #34 and even more fun and excitement.
